Antique Swedish Gustavian Settee - 1790
This beautiful and classic Gustavian Style settee represents what most think of as Swedish style. The back and sides are rectangular with turned vertical slats, each corner surmounted with a lovely finial. The muslin upholstered seat sits upon a beautifully carved frieze raised on circular turned and fluted feet. The finish has been scraped to reveal much of the original paint. This piece has details often incorporated into Swedish sofas with a lift off seat and a slide out base that can be used for storage.
